Jalalabad: The vice governor of Nangarhar province visited the province’s main fruit market this week, where he met with traders, assured them of government support, and discus

sed changes to the country’s new trade policies. The visit was aimed at strengthening cooperation between local authorities and the business community in the context of the new economic reforms introduced by the current government.

During the visit, the Vice Governor had detailed discussions with the representatives of the fruit market on the export mechanism, pricing mechanism, and transportation related difficulties that have been faced by the farmers and traders in recent months. He stressed that the government is committed to promoting transparent, self-reliant and legal trade.

Contrary to initial fears, local businessmen strongly supported the government’s latest economic measures. According to him, this policy change is an important step towards establishing a dignified and sovereign trading system, which will reduce dependence on foreign intermediaries and encourage domestic production.
