Clashes in Spin Boldak stopped; officials say: the situation is under control, people should not worry

Kandahar: A brief exchange of fire took place between Afghan and Pakistani border forces in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province last evening, in which both sides fired bullets and mortar shells at some places. According to local sources, the clashes took place in the vicinity of Mazel Gali and Luqman Qali in Spin Boldak.

According to reports, the firing started after the Pakistani army opened fire on the Afghan border check posts, to which the Afghan forces responded immediately and strongly. During the clash, a mortar shell also landed near a commercial market named “Soper Amin.” Initially, there were no official reports of casualties.

Government officials in Spin Boldak say the fighting is now completely stopped and the situation in the area is completely under control. According to officials, additional security forces have been deployed at border points and there is no need for people to panic and leave their homes.

The authorities have urged citizens and social media users to avoid spreading rumours and focus only on authentic and official information, as unnecessary rumours can create panic among the public.

Some videos have also appeared on social media in which explosions can be heard, but officials say the situation is now normal and life continues as before.

Such incidents along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border are not new. Over the years, such clashes have been witnessed from time to time on various sections of the Durand Line. According to security analysts, these clashes often occur as a result of violations of ceasefire agreements by Pakistani forces.

More details about the incident and possible casualties will be announced later.

Local residents say such incidents have a negative impact on trade, daily travel and normal life. People and regional elders hope that the two countries will resolve their border issues through dialogue and diplomacy.
